Abstrak

Culex genus mosquitoes are known as filariasis disease-transmitting vectors. Mosquito control with natural insecticide is a relatively safe alternative for the environment by utilizing the existing plants in the environment as a vegetable pesticide, namely papaya plants. The taste of papaya seeds are bitter, spicy and flavorful sting makes papaya seeds less desirable as ingredients of consumption and is still absorbed optimally so that the author tries to utilize papaya seeds as a natural larvacida. Papaya seeds are used as a solution. In papaya seed solution contains several active compounds present in papaya seeds that have larvacid effects on Culex quinquefasciatus larvae are alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids and polyphenols. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of papaya seed on the growth of Culex quinquefasciatus mosquito. The papaya seed solution by experimental method was applied to 25 larvae of Culex quinquefasciatus instar 3 with papaya seed concentration (Carica papaya L.) 10%, 20%, 30%. Culex quinquefasciatus larvae were soaked in papaya seed solution for 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours and 24 hours. This research is done 4 times repetition. The results showed that the content of papaya seeds had an effect on the growth of Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes. The higher the increasing number of mosquito larvae. The most effective concentration results at the highest concentration of 30% within 6 hours have been able to turn off the larvae on average 25 tail with 100% percentage of death.
