Abstrak


Mahkota dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) is a medicinal plant that has been known and is now increasingly demanding public. Plants from Papua efficacious to treat wounds, diabetes, liver, colds, allergies, breathing problems, dysentery, skin diseases, heart, kidney, cancer, high blood pressure, gout, increase stamina, drug addiction, and trigger uterine contractions.
Parts of plants which is used as medicine are leaves, flesh and peel of fruit. The leaves and rind of fruit can be used fresh or dried. Leaves of Phaleria macrocarpa have many chemical content. The content of it, consist of alkaloids, flavonoids, polyphenols, saponins.
The purpose of this study was to isolate and identify saponin in leaf extracts of the Phaleria macrocarpa with maceration extraction. The results of the gods crown leaf extract were tested qualitatively with the foam test and color test. Foam test was conducted to determine the existence of a stable foam which indicates saponin and color test to isolate the type of saponin. In this study, leaves of Phaleria macrocarpa positively contain saponin steroids.
