PENGARUH SUHU DAN WAKTU PEMANASAN TERHADAP KADAR KALIUM IODAT (KIO3) DALAM LARUTAN GARAM BERIODIUM
Abstract
Iodine deficiency disorders (GAKI) is a disease caused by iodinedeficiency which can cause enlargement of the thyroid gland, growth retardation,
reduced intelligence. This can be prevented by consuming salt fortified with
potassium iodate in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard of 30-80
ppm.The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature and
heating time on levels of potassium iodine in iodized salt. This research uses
experimental methods with quantitative techniques iodometric method. The
sample used is a brand of iodized salt with 2 smart kids. Assay of potassium
iodate (KIO3) in the use of iodized salt in the secondary standard solution of
sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3).The study was conducted with variations in
temperature and heating times in four treatments, namely before the heating
temperature of 28oC, after 5 minutes of heated temperature of 60oC, 85oC
temperature 10 minutes, and 15 minutes the temperature of 95oC, obtained an
average grade potassium iodate (KIO3) ie 61.8156 ppm , ppm 52.1820, 48.9708
and 50.5764 ppm ppm. Results of statistical test by using analysis of variance with
the level of the significant value of 5%, we can conclude it was not a significant
influence of temperature and heating time on levels of potassium iodine in iodized
salt.
