Abstract

In Indonesia, the mangosteen peel boiled water has many benefits which
can be used as an herb for menggobati sores, fever, diarrhea, ulcers, and
constipation. Not only boiled water, powder or powder of dried mangosteen rind
is also beneficial for menggobati dysentery. The skin of the mangosteen fruit
contains the active substance among others xanthon, alkaloids, tannins and
flavonoids as anti-bacterial.Xanthon contained in the skin of the mangosteen fruit
has the ability to overcome bacterial and rebalance excess abdominal work.
Digestive disorders in humans can cause diarrhea and dysentery. Generally
caused by the bacteria Salmonella. Whereas dysentery is diarrhea mixed with
mucus and blood, caused by amoebas and bacteria Shigella.In this study, the
authors used the experimental method to conduct a study using the test material
mangosteen rind decoction (Garcinia manggostana Linn), the bacteria Shigella
and Salmonella dysentriae tyhpi, using a concentration of 100%, 50%, 25%,
12.5%, 6 , 25% and 3.125%.Based on the research conducted, showed that at a
concentration of 25% can inhibit the bacteria Salmonella tyhpi and the MIC. At a
concentration of 6.25% can inhibit Shigella dysentriae and the MIC him.
