Abstrak
HDL (high density lipoprotein) is the most lipoproteins that containing protein than other lipoproteins, therefore it have highest density. These lipoproteins derived from the results of synthesis in the liver. HDL is called good fats because it have function gets rid of excess cholesterol from the blood vessels and brought back to the liver for further thrown into the gallbladder as bile acid. The one of cause decreased levels of HDL in the body is smoking, because the nicotine in cigarette smoke will stimulate an adrenalin hormone which consequently will interfere metabolism of fat which causes decreased levels of HDL in the body. The purpose of the study to determine the differences in levels of HDL (high density lipoprotein) in active smokers and passive smokers at the students of Health Analyst Academy Delima Husada Gresik. This type of research is experimental with use the data analysis in a descriptive. The assay conducted in the laboratory to determine the difference in HDL levels in active smokers and passive smokers in venous blood samples by the method of precipitation of LDL, VLDL and chylomicron. The calculation was performed by T test of two independent samples, and obtained the following results, the mean HDL levels in active smokers 75.30 and the mean HDL levels in passive smokers 163.93. Probability (sig 2-tailed) was 0,000 or sig. < α then Ho was accepted, meaning that there was a significant difference between the levels of HDL in active smokers and passive smokers
